The Bungalow Style: Bungalow homes are typically designed and built with attention to detail. In contrast to the Victorian style, bungalow details consist of mostly straight lines. The porch is integral and prominent to most bungalows, and invites visitors and neighbors. Porches are generally held up by columns that are visually substantial. Bungalows often have a prominent roof and appear to be one story. Many use dormers to increase living space in the second story that are trimmed attractively.

Although the bungalow can be detailed with elements from many regions, such as Swiss or Spanish, the most common details seen on the bungalow is the Craftsman Bungalow which was inspired by the arts and crafts movement. These bungalows often have exposed detailed kickers or knee-braces, large overhanging eaves, and a front porch extending off of the main roof.
