Background
Mitch wanted
more room for entertaining. His home was typical of homes built
in the 40's. The rooms were small and boxy, the kitchen was tiny
and there was little closet space.
Experience
Renovation Design
proposed a 25 foot addition including a new kitchen that extends
into a great room, increasing the interaction between guests.
In order to extend the interaction into the backyard, large windows
seperate the master and family rooms. A glass door leads to a trellis
covered patio from each room. The patio leads to a spa surrounded
by a planter. A two-car garage was also designed to tie into the
home with the trellis. A new master bedroom with a spacious walk-in
closet was also included in the addition. Between the master and
family rooms, a large plasma screen TV was designed to swivel
enabeling it to face either room.
The key to
this design was in moving the stairs. This created a corridor
from the entry to the kitchen while expanding the kitchen space.
"Renovation
Design expanded what was possible for me with their expertise. I
knew what I wanted [the] end result to be, but I didnt know
where to start, let alone what the contractor needed to actually
get started on the project. Given that I will live in this renovated
home for at least ten years, I felt that using experts to help
in this important phase was WELL worth the investment. Thanks
Renovation!"
