Project Description

OVERVIEW

Marcus & Kris have a growing family. With the addition of a new member to their home, they needed an additional room in their 1920's bungalow. They wanted to add windows, high ceilings and character to their home. Openness was important as well as drafty, sunny bedrooms.

THE STORY

They gave up their small master bedroom and built a master suite on the back of the home that flows and connects into the back yard. The remodel includes a master bedroom, master bathroom, and a mudroom.

SOLUTION

The master bedroom is connected to the backyard through glass double doors, transom windows and sidelights. The room is filled through glass on the east which minimizes heat-gain in the summer. The doors open up to a patio that steps down to the rear yard.

The master bath includes a tub inset within the cove which mimicks the original style of the home, while creating a comfortable space to bathe in. The detailed shower includes glass block detail, which adds interest and light to the shower and a double sink vanity which keeps the bathroom simple yet classic.

To save space, the master closet is compact, built-in and functional. The beautiful rear addition entry doubles as a mudroom.
