Design Group Project in Wall Street Journal August 5, 2005
June Fletcher,
staff reporter of The Wall Street Journal published an article today
that appeared on page W8 featuring a four-thousand dollar shower
that we designed for one of our clients. But this was no ordinary
shower.
The article
was titled 'See Spot. See Spot Shower.' and featured two homeowners
that had showers for their dogs one of which was a client of Renovation
Design Group (See
project). The article highlights the amount of money
spent by homeowners on pets ($2.3 Billion on grooming and boarding
in 2004), and the increasing trend to include features for pets
in homes in the United States.

Design Group Moves Into a New Office
May 24, 2005
Renovation Design
Group has finally grown out of its old location. With three architects,
two drafters, an administrative assistant, and myself, we had been
foreseeing a move from the basement of Ann's beautiful Federal Heights
home for some time.
The new office is located on 1300 East in the second level of an
older bungalow. Originally built as a home, the building has been
converted to office space, and is only blocks away from our previous
location.
The building is just north of the Market Street Broiler, between
the Broiler and Einstein Bagels, and the office space is about 50%
larger than our old office. Our new office should give us enough
capacity to grow for the next few years. In the mean time, the space
is designed to facilitate more open communication with our team,
which is already occurring. The location should increase our visibility
in the community, and be easier to find. We are all very excited.

Renovation
Design Group Featured in Deseret News Article
April 1, 2005
Renovation Design
Group was featured in an article in the Deseret News today. The
article was an introduction prior to a future weekly column that
Annie Vernon and Ann Robinson will be writing for the paper. The
the following is an excerpt from the article:
The
two architects were tired of turning away inquiries about remodeling
because their firm said there wasn't enough money in the project
to bother.
"We
knew there was a niche there of people who were not being served,"
Robinson said. "We wanted to work with people who had budgets,
kids, (and) families — real life."
The
two started Renovation Design Group from a pinched second-story
bedroom in Robinson's renovated 1928 home. Nearly two years and
140 clients later, the group has graduated to her basement. The
next move, however, will have to be to an office to accommodate
three architects (Chris Humbert is the third), two drafters, a
business manager and an administrative assistant.

Design Group Expands Its Educational Outreach
March 1, 2005
In an expanded
effort to educate the public on issues related to the architectural
elements involved in home design, Renovation Design Group has increased
its educational outreach to current and future homeowners, and in
a number of ways.
Ann Robinson and Annie Vernon recently completed thirty hours each
of volunteer time teaching a group of fifteen elementary students
at Hawthorn Elementary School. Sponsored by the Young Architects
Forum of the American Institute of Architects, the program exposes
youth to the profession of Architecture. The students created a
"Box City" which was displayed at the Union Pacific Grand
Hall.
We are expanding our Community Architectural Seminar Series to include
a seminar on residential design elements, as well as one on avoiding
the pitfalls of residential construction. These seminars are free
and open to the public. We are also proud to announce that Orson
Gygi is our newest venue for hosting the community seminar series.

of Utah through the Lifelong Learning department. The class is entitled
Remodeling: Up or Out? The course helps homeowners make informed
decisions by discussing curb appeal; integrating the new construction
with the character of the old; tying in the roof; considerations
such as stairways and skylights, technical concerns such as earthquake
considerations or load-bearing issues; zoning issues; and construction
costs. Details and registration can be found at the Lifelong Learning

Design Celebrates 100th Client
October 18, 2004
Sixteen months
after it's inception Renovation Design Group has serviced it's one
hundredth client. Over seventy percent of Renovating Design's clients
have never used an architect's services previously in housing design.
This milestone shows the great initial strides of the firm in bringing
architectural services to a segment of the housing market that has
largely lacked the benefits that an architect brings to a residential
construction project.
